Family Law Services
Divorce — Anticipating and going through a divorce can be one of the most anxious and difficult periods of a person's life. We will guide you through the legal steps, while preserving your assets and the future health and welfare of your children.
Dissolution of Marriage — In dissolution, parties reach an agreement on ending their marriage before going to court. Dissolution can be more cost-effective and generate less conflict than divorce.
Child Custody and Visitation — If you have children, their health and welfare will be your top priority going into a divorce. If you and your former spouse are unable to reach an agreement about parenting time, the court will decide based on what it determines to be in the best interests of your child.
Child and Spousal Support — Child support in Ohio is determined by a formula that considers the income of both parties and the number of children supported among other issues. However, the issue of spousal support is less clear cut and takes into account many factors.
Collaborative Law — The traditional, adversarial approach to divorce can lead to consequences that nobody wants: resentment and conflict that last long after the legal process is over. The collaborative law approach can be a more constructive way to achieve a divorce settlement.
Prenuptial Agreements — A prenuptial agreement is a document you sign prior to marriage that may define how assets will be divided or support determined if the marriage fails or if either party dies.
Domestic Violence — You don't have to be physically hurt to seek protection from the court. You can obtain a domestic violence restraining order if you feel threatened or intimidated by a spouse, boyfriend or someone living with you.
Stepparent and Grandparent Adoption — Adoption provides a child the stability of having a permanent home and gives the adopted child the right to inherit. It also gives the adoptive parent the same rights that a biological parent has, including the right to make medical decisions, enroll a child in school, and cover a child under an employer's health care plan.
Juvenile Law — There are several more alternatives available for a child who gets in trouble than for an adult. An experienced family law attorney can guide you through the process and help ensure the best outcome for your child.
Estate Planning Services
Estate Planning — We provide a wide range of estate planning and probate court services. If you need help drafting a will, obtaining the legal authority to care for someone, planning for incapacity or probating an estate, Attorney Darlene Wilcox and our office staff can guide through the process.
Wills and Other Estate Planning Documents — We can help you draft a will that meets your requirements and protects your family's future needs. We can also explain the benefits of other estate planning tools.
Trusts — A trust is an estate planning document that can help avoid the process of probate. Our firm can explain the many types of trusts available to meet your specific needs.
Probate and Estate Administration — We can help you through the process of finalizing your loved one's estate following his or her death.
